Following a two-day stakeholder workshop earlier this month with subject matter experts, the Waterfront Holland initiative will turn toward hosting two design charrettes.
The first charrette on April 15 – 18 will focus on the broader waterfront, while the second charrette on May 20 – 23 will focus on specific sites, including the James DeYoung Power Plant.
These four-day charrettes are intensive, multi-day sessions where expert designers will work within our vision and guiding principles to generate several scenarios. In a charrette, community members and key stakeholders participate with the design team in feedback meetings throughout the evolution of design exploration.
For the first charrette on the broader waterfront, the public is encouraged to observe or participate in the feedback meetings listed below:
– April 16: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., City Hall Training Room, Second Floor (Public Drop-in)
– April 16: 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., City Hall Council Chambers, First Floor (Public Open House)
– April 18: 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m., City Hall Council Chambers, First Floor (Public Summary Presentation)
The summary presentation will give the design team an opportunity to share exploratory concepts and potential directions generated from the charrette session with the public.
