{"id":1309,"date":"2019-05-31T14:52:48","date_gmt":"2019-05-31T18:52:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/waterfronth.wpengine.com\/?p=1309"},"modified":"2019-06-10T17:00:51","modified_gmt":"2019-06-10T21:00:51","slug":"waterfront-holland-completes-second-design-charrette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/waterfrontholland.org\/es\/2019\/05\/31\/waterfront-holland-completes-second-design-charrette\/","title":{"rendered":"Waterfront Holland completes second design charrette"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designers and community representatives concluded the second of two Waterfront Holland design charrettes &#8211; this time offering potential directions for specific sites along the Holland waterfront.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the first charrette analyzing the broader waterfront, the second charrette looked specifically at the future of the James DeYoung power plant property, the VerPlank property, Window-on-the-Waterfront and the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the completion of the second charrette, the Waterfront Holland team presented findings during a summary presentation on May 23. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the results are not prescriptive of a final decision, the concepts discussed show opportunities to transform the city through various transformations of our waterfront. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some key takeaways from the event include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>History as a lens to understand, shape, and celebrate the waterfront.<\/li><li>Creation of three distinct districts &#8212; \u00abAnchor District\u00bb, \u00abMarina District\u00bb, and \u00abUptown District\u00bb.<ul><li>Public\/Private \u00abHandshake\u00bb at \u00abAnchor District\u00bb<\/li><li>Marina(s) for ALL (Users, Activities, Vessels)<\/li><li>New Neighborhood core at the \u00abUptown District\u00bb<\/li><li>Strengthening the green at Window-on-the-Waterfront (Shaping + Programming)<\/li><li>Enhancing connectivity to and synergy with Holland Charter Township at the \u00abMarina District\u00bb<\/li><li>\u00abStepping stones\u00bb to the districts from the Central City<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>New opportunities for:<ul><li>Addressing housing needs<\/li><li>Re-thinking scale and density (\u00abAnchor District\u00bb and \u00abUptown District\u00bb)<\/li><li>Public-private partnerships<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Need for:<ul><li>Environmental sensitivity<\/li><li>Public Investment (Infrastructure + Regulatory)<\/li><li>Workable first moves and incremental steps<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Waterfront Holland will continue to update the public on future findings and results as they unfold.
