Following the success of our first design charrette, Waterfront Holland is holding a second charrette, this time discussing specific sites like the James DeYoung Power Plant, the VerPlank property, and Window-on-the-Waterfront.

The charrette is a multi-day session that runs from May 20-23. Expert designers will work within our vision and guiding principles to generate several scenarios. In a charrette, community members and key stakeholders participate with the design team in feedback meetings throughout the of design exploration.

At the second charrette, the public is encouraged to observe or participate in the feedback meetings listed below:

  • May 20: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., City Hall Training Room, Second Floor (Public Drop-In)
  • May 21: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., City Hall Training Room, Second Floor (Public Drop-In)
  • May 21:  6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., City Hall Council Chambers, First Floor (Public Open House)
  • May 23: 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m., City Hall Council Chambers, First Floor (Public Summary Presentation).

The summary presentation will give our design team an opportunity to share exploratory concepts and potential directions for the specific sites generated from the second charrette. Please RVSP to attend the summary presentation so we know how many people to expect.

During the first charrette, designers and community representatives developed several potential scenarios for the broader waterfront stretching from South Shore Village to Holland Energy Park.
